Holidays in Langkawi

The 100 or so islands of Langkawi are a tropical paradise where you will find beautiful waterfalls, soft sandy beaches, tropical palm trees and forest clad hills. The islands of Langkawi have proved extremely popular amongst visitors since they were made tax free in 1987.

About Langkawi

The islands of Langkawi sit in the Andaman Sea off the northwest coast of Malaysia. With a population of just over 50,000 the islands biggest source of income comes through tourism.

The only two inhabited islands are Langkawi Island and Tuba Island which have a population of just over 50,000.

Langkawi can be easily reached from the capital of Kuala Lumpar by air or by boat from Penang, Kuala Perlis and Kuala Kedah.

These islands are a tropical delight just waiting to be enjoyed. The beauty of the islands can be seen in its limestone cliffs, waterfalls, soft sandy beaches and mountainous interior.

Langkawi Holiday Attractions

Having only recently become a tourist destination the islands of Langkawi are a great place to come to escape from the mainstream crowds. Here you will find beautiful beaches and a pristine natural environment.

Hire a mountain bike or a motorbike and get out and explore the islands rugged interior. Snorkel off the coast or take a trip with a dive company to reefs and wrecks.

Langkawi Weather

Because it lies so close to the equator, Langkawi is blessed with an average year round temperature nearing 30 degrees.

The dry season lasts from November through to March when the skies are generally clear and the weather is at its hottest. The wet season starts in April and lasts until October.

During this period rain can be heavy but is often over quickly and then the skies clear again.
